A Message from Dean Pratt

Dear members of the Washburn Law community:

This week I began serving as the dean of Washburn University School of Law, and I am excited for the future that we will build together in the coming years.

I am so grateful to students, alumni, faculty and staff members, and the Topeka community for the warm welcome that I have received. I owe special thanks to Dean Thomas Romig for his steadfast leadership of the law school over the past decade and the gracious way that he assisted me in this transition.  His leadership and the work of the entire law school community has created the solid foundation upon which we will build.

I am committed to Washburn’s values of making public higher education accessible to all both financially and academically. I am also excited about the potential of the law school to help shape the next generation of lawyers and the legal profession. Rapidly evolving technology and globalization create unique opportunities for the law school to expand its impact. As a law school with a long history of creating service-minded lawyers and leaders, and a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching, we have the capacity to develop our already excellent curriculum in innovative ways and expand its reach.

I invite you to stop by the dean’s office and share your thoughts with me, and I look forward to working with all of you.

Non Nobis Solum (Not for Ourselves Alone)
